Staff for the Municipality of Chester can expect a gradual return
to the office starting on Monday, June 1 when phase one of their reopening plan begins.
Municipal Offices were closed to the public on March 16 with many office staff working from
home in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Office staff, for the most part, are carrying out many of the Municipality’s services at home while
some have remained on-site. Operations staff have continued to work at Kaizer Meadow Landfill
and for Public Works at all locations, including wastewater treatment plants and other municipal
properties. Overall, very few services have been affected by the changes.
The three-phased plan begins with a staggered in-office schedule for staff only. Until offices are
open to the public, residents are asked to continue using online and telephone options. Municipal
offices will remain closed to residents until further notice, with much depending on the current
status of the rest of the Province.
Kaizer Meadow Landfill will resume Saturday hours on Saturday, June 6 as well as reopen the
Household Hazardous Waste site to the public starting Monday, June 1.
While protections for staff are in place now, additional precautions will be implemented during
the initial phase that will focus on the public’s safety. When offices finally reopen to the public
(phase two), expect to see protective shields at front counters, signage, and some one-on-one
services scheduled through appointments until restrictions lift.
The final phase of reopening will happen once all provincial restrictions are lifted, and usual
operations resume.
Residents are encouraged to check www.chester.ca and MOC’s social media accounts frequently
