Water Quality Summary reports for April 2022 – The water distribution system switched from winter mode of operation to summer mode on April 11th. This means that rural customers who are twinned are now receiving surface water for irrigation. Oliver had a total of 5.3mm recorded precipitation in the month of April. According to Environment Canada the normal precipitation for Oliver, from 1981- 2010 is 26.5 mm for the month of April. Land Acknowledgement – Council have approved that in the conducting of Town of Oliver meetings the following land acknowledgement, approved by Osoyoos Indian Band, be used: The Town of Oliver acknowledges it is situated on the unceded ancestral homeland of the Osoyoos Indian Band within the Okanagan Nation. We give honour and pay respect to the Osoyoos Indian Band and its people. Canada Community Building Fund – Capacity Building Grant – Council have directed staff to apply for the Canada Community Building Fund – Capacity Building Grant in order to undertake a Strategic Plan for the Oliver Airport. 6701 Tucelnuit Drive – Fortis Building Upgrades – Council denied the request to contribute towards the water upgrade project costs to FortisBC. Bylaw Enforcement Officer Appointment – Council have appointed Cassie Vandael as a Town of Oliver Bylaw Enforcement Officer. Bylaws: • Zoning Housekeeping Amendment Bylaw 1380.26 – Council adopted Zoning Housekeeping Amendment Bylaw 1380.26. This Bylaw would include changes to definitions for ‘net floor area’ and ‘structure’, and some changes to setbacks, fence and retaining wall heights, and permitted locations for use of a mobile home as a residence, accessory buildings and structures. Proclamation Request – Access Awareness Day – Council proclaimed June 4, 2022 as Access Awareness Day and have directed staff to promote Access Awareness Day on the Town ’s Social Media and website.
