1.0 PURPOSE:
The purpose of this report is to provide a summary of the water system operations by the Town
in the month of August 2013.
2.0 BACKGROUND:
The distribution system is in the summer mode of operation using both ground water and surface
water as sources. A summary of noteworthy activity in the operation of the water system is as
follows:
The chlorination system at Rockcliffe well failed due to corrosion on the hypo quill.
Tucelnuit well #3 pump motor short circuited and had to be sent for repair.
New backup hypo pump arrived.
A boil water notice was issued for in Town customers and rural customers to the north on
August 15 and terminated on August 29. It was issued due to turbidity resulting from
construction work being done.
Work with McMullens continues for Tucelnuit pump house workplace safety procedures.
Upgrades for Hillside/ Hollow and Veterans area continue. Water main tie in work con-
tinues. The contractor struck a water main on August 30 with major flushing work re-

2.4 Trihalomethanes:
The annual Trihalomethanes (THMs) sample was taken August 19 with a result of
0.060mg/L. According to the Canadian Drinking Water Guidelines, the maximum
acceptable concentration (MAC) for trihalomethanes in drinking water is 0.100 mg/L.
2.5 Turbidity:
Turbidity in the surface water is now being continuously monitored. From the start-up of
the canal the turbidity ranged from a low of 0.60/NTU to a high of 0.9/NTU.
2.6 Water Conservation:
Distributed ‘Make Water Work’ postcards and fridge magnets.
Display ‘Make Water Work’ magnets to vehicles.
Most domestic water accounts read on a monthly basis for consumption billing.

* Data for consumption may vary from year to year for the following reasons:
- Not all data is recorded from the SCADA system and some surfacewater pumps are recorded manually.
- Changes in irrigated acres or crop type.
- Precipitation and temperature changes in irrigating seasons.
