PROCLAMATION
International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia
May 17, 2023
WHEREAS despite recent efforts towards greater inclusion of
LGBTQ+ people, homophobia and transphobia are still present in
society; and
WHEREAS May 17t" is the International Day Against Homophobia
and Transphobia, is celebrated as such in many countries and is
the result of a Quebec -based initiative promoted by Fondation
Emergence starting in 2003; and
WHEREAS there is reason to support the efforts of Fondation
Emergence in holding this day.
THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that May 17t" be declared as
International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia in
the Municipality of the District of Chester.
