Delegations:
Oliver Legion Branch 97 – Council received a presentation from Legion representatives (Estelle
Pavan, President, Dale Young 1st Vice President and Patrick Hampson 2nd Vice President)
requesting Oliver reconsider the concept of erecting a new Cenotaph on Station Street on a
location to be determined by the Town.
Fortis BC – Renewable Gas Comprehensive Review and Clean Growth Pathway – Council
received a presentation from Fortis BC (Ian Mitchell Key Account Manager and Shelley Martens
Community & Indigenous Relations Manager) regarding renewable gas and Fortis BC’s Clean
Growth Pathway.
Water Quality Summary reports for July 2022 – The water distribution system is in summer mode of
operation using surface water for irrigation use, along with some ground water in System 2. All other
ground water pumps are used for domestic use only. On July 25th Oliver implemented Stage 2 Water
Restrictions. Temperatures in Oliver averaged 29.8˚C from 1981-2010; on July 16, 1941 the
temperature reached 43.9˚C and this year the temperate reached 44˚C. Oliver had a total of 29.3mm
recorded precipitation in the month of July. According to Environment Canada the normal
precipitation for Oliver, from 1981-2010 is 44.5mm for the month of July.
Development Permit (with variances) – 5830 Sawmill Road – Council approved the Development
Permit for 5830 Sawmill Road. This development will see construction of an addition to an irrigation
warehouse building.
Oliver/Osoyoos Search and Rescue Grant in Aid – Council approved the grant in aid application for
the Oliver/Osoyoos Search and Rescue in the amount of $3,347.18 to cover the cost of the
development cost charges applied for the construction of their building at the Oliver Airport. The
building is complete and will store their vehicles and trailers, as well as use as a training classroom.
Correspondence Report – August 22, 2022:
• Council directed staff to allow the Moms Stop the Harm place a purple chair on the Town Hall
property for the day and evening of August 31st to recognize International Overdose
Awareness Day.
