Status: Full-Time, Summer Position (June, July, August)
Location: Various locations in and outside of the Municipality of Chester
Hours: 35 hours/week, weekend and evening work will be required.

The Municipality of Chester is looking for a Mobile Ambassador to staff our mobile
information kiosk for Summer 2024! We’re looking for a team member who loves meeting
people, enjoys being out and about and is passionate about tourism. The ideal candidate
also has an interest in social media and online marketing. This position allows the
successful candidate to gain exposure to municipal government, while experiencing all
the excitement the MOC has to offer!
SCOPE
The Mobile Ambassador provides outreach to Municipality of Chester (MOC) communities and
their visitors. The successful applicant will staff the mobile information kiosk during the 2024
summer season to be set up at events and select locations throughout the MOC and
occasionally outside of the MOC. The focus of this position is to engage with visitors and share
extensive travel knowledge and trip planning advice about attractions, destinations, and
experiences - directly impacting MOC’s tourism industry. Daily research of tourism products,
destinations, wayfinding, social media tactics, regional festivals/events information, and data
collection is essential. Tools such as a tablet, laptop, literature, and cellphone will be provided.
The right candidate is positive, friendly, approachable, resourceful, proactive and possesses a
passion for tourism. Travel throughout MOC, and possibly other regions, will be required with
the successful candidate receiving reimbursement for mileage.

OBLIGATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES UNDER LEGISLATION
1. The MOC is committed to workplace safety and all employees are expected to actively
participate in MOC’s Occupational Health and Safety Policy and Program, Occupational Health
and Safety Legislation, as well as Regulations of the Province of Nova Scotia.
2. The MOC complies with the Employment Legislation of Nova Scotia and employees are
expected to act in accordance with the appropriate Legislation.
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidate must be computer literate, specifically with use of mobile devices.
Candidate must be proficient in English; other languages considered an asset.
Preference will be given to candidates with some post-secondary education/experience in
tourism, hospitality, public relations, marketing and/or a related field.
Preference will be given to candidates with a working knowledge of social media platforms,
specifically Facebook and Instagram.
Candidates with customer service experience will be given preference.
Knowledge of and experience with Nova Scotia’s tourism industry and tourism destinations,
specifically in MOC and Lunenburg County are considered assets.
SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Setup, staff, and tear down mobile kiosk at events and select locations throughout MOC.
Provide exceptional customer service.
Share extensive travel knowledge and trip planning insights in relation to attractions,
destinations, and experiences in MOC and the wider region that are customized to each
visitor, positively impacting MOC’s tourism industry.
Daily research of tourism products (ex: destinations, nearby festivals, events information,
etc.).
Influence visitors to see and do more, prompting extension of their stay in the MOC.
Distribute tourism relevant literature (ex: provided maps and brochures)
Collect visitor statistics.
Use Tourism Chester social media platforms to support and promote MOC (ex: updating on
daily locations and area events).

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Possess a valid class 5 Nova Scotia driver’s license with no restrictions.
Travel throughout the MOC, and possibly other regions.
Have access to a reliable vehicle.
Evening and weekend work when necessary.
