Delegations: • BC Rural Health Network BC Rural Health Network presented to Council regarding Combatting the Rural Healthcare Crisis and their role as a collective of health advocacy groups from across rural BC. The Town of Oliver was requested to join the BC Rural Health Network in which Council endorsed with the $50 application fee. • Oliver Ambassador Presentation - 2023 Ambassadors: Jordyn Nelson, Zephyr Pickell, Heera Buttar, Riya Chahal • Oliver Ambassador Financial Report The Oliver Ambassador Program presented to Council regarding their 2022 Financial Budget and their estimated versus actual income for the Oliver Ambassador Program. The 2022 Oliver Ambassador Program experienced a renewed interest with 16 Candidates. Development Variance Permit – 787 Kettle Avenue – Council approved the Development Variance Permit for 787 Kettle Avenue and directed staff to issue the permit. The application is seeking a variance to decrease the minimum front parcel line setback by 1 meter to facilitate the construction of a secondary suite addition to a single family dwelling. Station Street Plaza – Tender Award for Site Preparation – Council awarded the site preparation tender for the Station Street Plaza to Mike Johnson Excavating Ltd. for $112,612.50. The project has been broken out into various stages. The work is anticipated to commence in late October. Spirit of Oliver Update 2022 – Council endorsed the recommended changes to the 2022 Spirit of Oliver Awards. The changes will see the discontinuation of the Nomination Announcement at the Venables Theatre and will instead see a synopsis of nominators and nominees presented at the Awards Ceremony. The Spirit of Oliver Award event will take place during Volunteer Week (April 21, 2023) instead of during the Roots and Fruits Festival Weekend in August. Category wordings have been updated and any Special Mention categories will be received by Oliver Council for consideration and presentation at a Council Meeting. Building Permit Activity Report for September – Council received the report noting 1 Single Family Improvement with a total project value of $50,000. Fire Department – The Oliver Fire Department responded to 56 calls (23 rural, 31 in-town, and 2 OIB) during the month of September. Correspondence Report – October 11, 2022 – Council received the October 11, 2022 Correspondence report and the weekly mail.
