HomeMy Public PortalAboutBYLAW 2003-060- Reduced Voting Hours Retirement Homes By-LawTHE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF TECUMSEH BY-LAW 2003-60 A by-law to provide for reduced hours of voting in institutions and retirement homes WHEREAS Section 45(7) of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 requires that on voting day, a votin~ place shall be provided on the premises of' an institution for the reception, treatment or vocational training of members or forme~ members of the Canadian Forces; an institution in which on nomination day, 20 or more beds are occupied by persons whc are disabled, chronically ill or infirm; and a retirement home in which, on nomination day, 50 or more beds are occupied. AND WHEREAS Section 46(3) of the aforesaid Act provides that a municipal council may pas! a by-law with respect to reduced voting hours in voting places in retirement homes or thos~ institutions as defined in Section 45(7) of the said Act, where the voting place is only for the use o the residents; NOW THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN TECUMSEH ENACTS AS FOLLOWS: Those voting places as shown in Schedule "A" attached hereto and forming part of this by. law, shall be open between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. READ a first, second, third time and finally passed this 9th day of September, 2003 "SEAL" Ed Renaud, MayoJ Laurav~Mo~'Cler[ By-law No. 2003-60 Page No. SCHEDULE "A" Of By-Law No. 2003-60 VOTING PLACES TO BE OPEN BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 10:00 A.M.
