The Town Crier will be appointed annually at Annual session of Council held the last Monday of May. This appointment will be reviewed annually in April of each year in preparation for the Annual Session of Council. 2. The Town Crier will serve at the pleasure of Council. The Town Crier will participate at Public functions only and requests for his participation will be in writing to Council and will be approved by Council at a meeting; or, at the very least, approval will be by Senior Staff or Warden of the Municipality if the Council meeting schedule does not meet the time frame. 3. The uniform of the Town Crier is the responsibility of the Town Crier and will be constructed in "good taste" and under the guidelines of Nova Scotia Guild of Town Criers (if applicable). 4. The expenses of the Town Crier will be covered by a budget annually approved by Council. The expense will be supported by receipts submitted at time of claim (on form approved by Council). 5. Any honorarium negotiated by the Town Crier and subsequently paid by any group, organization, etc., shall be payable to the Municipality and deposited as an offsetting entry to the expenses. 6. The Registration and annual dues payable to the Nova Scotia Guild of Town Criers shall be the responsibility of the Town Crier and may be submitted and considered as an expense item. Council will not accept a Town Crier who does not meet or surpass the requirements of the Nova Scotia Guild of Town Criers.
