BREASTFEEDING FRIENDLY POLICY
Healthcare professions are unanimous: breastfeeding is the best way to feed babies and get them off to
a healthy start in life that can have lifelong benefits.
The Municipality ofthe District of Chester recognizes that breast milk is the optimal food for healthy growth
and development of infants.
The Municipality of the District of Chester promotes and supports breastfeeding and the expression of
breast milk by employees who are breastfeeding when they return to work and visitors to the properties
of the Municipality.
Staff of the Municipality of the District of Chester shall work with breastfeeding employees to determine
mutually agreeable hours of work, assignments and breaks, which support breastfeeding practices and are
compatible with other policies.
Staff of the Municipality ofthe District of Chester shall provide assistance to visitors who wish to breastfeed
their baby by providing a location comfortable to both baby and mother.
