Volunteer Emergency Services Long Service Municipal Recognition Policy
Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to set forth Council's commitment to the recognition of the dedication
and service of our volunteer fire departments and emergency services personnel.
Policy Statement
1. Council recognizes and appreciates the dedication and commitment of its volunteer fire
departments and emergency services personnel.
2. Council shall provide a Municipal Service Award to eligible Volunteer Fire Departments at
service anniversaries of 30 years and each 5 year service period afterwards.
3. Council shall provide a Municipal Long Service Award to eligible volunteer firefighters and
medical first responders at service anniversaries of 20 years, 30 years and each 5 year service
period afterwards.
4. Council shall present such awards annually to the Fire Departments and individual recipients
at an appropriate recognition event.
