Employee Long Service Recognition Policy
Purpose
1. The purpose of the Employee Long Service Recognition Policy is to provide formal
recognition of long service by employees of the Municipality of the District of Chester.
General Provisions
1. The Municipality of the District of Chester shall annually in December recognize those
employees who have reached milestones in their employment with the Municipality
throughout the year for 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, and 40 years of service as follows:
10 years of service – Certificate signed by the Warden and CAO and a gift or gift
certificate valued at $20;
15 years of service – Certificate signed by the Warden and CAO and a gift or gift
certificate valued at $30;
20 years of service – Certificate signed by the Warden and CAO and a gift or gift
certificate valued at $40;
25 years of service – Certificate signed by the Warden and CAO and a gift or gift
certificate valued at $50;
30 years of service – Certificate signed by the Warden and CAO and a gift or gift
certificate valued at $60;
35 years of service – Certificate signed by the Warden and CAO and a gift or gift
certificate valued at $70;
40 years of service – Certificate signed by the Warden and CAO and a gift or gift
certificate valued at $80.
2. In accordance with Canada Revenue Agency Guidelines, cash or near-cash (easily converted
to cash) awards shall be considered a taxable benefit. Non-cash awards shall not be
considered a taxable benefit.
