Minutes of Meeting of Economic Development and Long Range Planning

1. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Moved by: Deputy Mayor Wilson
Seconded by: Councillor MacLeod
THAT the agenda be approved as circulated.
Motion Carried
2. DISCLOSURE OF CONFLICT OF INTEREST
No members present declared a conflict of interest on any of the items on the
agenda at this time.
3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF MEETING #08-23

THAT the minutes of meeting 08-23 be approved as circulated.

5. BUSINESS ARISING OUT OF MINUTES
5.a SUSSEX POPULATION GROWTH STRATEGY:
5.a.1 COVENTRY WALK SUBDIVISION
CAO Hatcher reviews with the Committee the progress in phase 2 and
phase 3 Coventry Walk Subdivision.

Phase 2 has seen all lots now and have homes on end lots with the
last lot nearing completion.
In phase 3, four new foundations this month with another footing
course currently being installed. This will make 14 of the 24 subdivision
lots under construction.
CAO Hatcher advises the curb machine has arrived to construct the
curb and gutter. This work is expected to be completed by Friday
September 15th, 2023. This curb will be rested for approximately 1
week to gain strength.
CAO Hatcher advises Council is set to approve the asphalt tender on
September 12th, which will set in motion the completion of the phase 2
seal asphalt and placement of the base asphalt in phase 3 by months
end.
Streetscape in phase 3 will be evident by the month's end.
Brief discussion on rate of construction experienced in Sussex in 2022.
2023 and the assessment of future years growth.
5.b ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING STATIONS
5.b.1 50 PERRY STREET - PARTICIPATION AGREMENT
CAO Hatcher reviews with the Committee the signed participation
agreement for the installation of two level 2 EV chargers scheduled to
be installed at the Senior's Centre.
CAO Hatcher advises the necessary equipment has been ordered and
is expected in late December 2023.
Brief discussion. Correspondence received and filed by the Committee.
5.c FLOOD MITIGATION PLAN UPDATE
CAO Hatcher advises there is no new information related to the Town's
submission for funding to assist in flood mitigation planning.
