1. Approval of Agenda

5.a CN Rail Safety Week
His Worship Mayor Thorne read the correspondence from CN regarding
Rail Safety Week.

THAT the letter from CN regarding rail safety week be filed and that the
information be posted on the town's social media and website.

6. Fire Report

THAT the Fire Report for the month of July 2023 be received as circulated.

The report indicated that during the month the Fire Department responded to 16
calls with 6 calls originating within the boundaries of Sussex and 10 calls outside
of the boundaries of Sussex.
7. Building Inspector's Report

THAT the Building inspector's Report for the month of July 2023 be received as
circulated.

The reportindicated that during the month, the Building inspector issued 2
permits for New Construction totaling $604,300 and 16 permits for Renovations,
Repairs and Alterations totaling of $155,000
8. Development Officer's Report

THAT the Development Officer's Report for the month of July 2023 be received
as circulated.

The report indicated that during the month, there were 2 tentative subdivision
plans submitted for approval.

THAT Council approve Policy CS -17: Schedule A2 - Facilities showing the
proposed rental fees for the 8th Hussars Sports Centre.

Winter Street from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm on October 21st for the Sussex

Club in their grant request through the Sussex & Area Community

THAT Council direct DPW Butcher to send a letter to the parties involved
to commence a hearing at the next Protective Services meeting to review
the 82 Park Street dog incident.

Communications Skills for Building Officials Level 1 course, from October

THAT Council approve the replacement of eight (8) cables for the quint
following the 2022 adjustment of the ladder cables and to engage G.
LeBlanc Fire Truck Repair Ltd. inclusive of labor and material in the

amount of $13,884.52, exclusive of HST and exclusive of shipping of the
cables from Sutphen, USA.

THAT Council authorize an expenditure of up to $60,000.00 for the
purchase and installation of monitoring equipment and training required for
staff for continuous chlorine monitoring in Ward 2 and continuous turbidity
monitors on 4 wells in both Ward 1 and Ward 2.

12. New Business
13. Open Discussion
Councillor MacLeod attended the Ark Health Collective's Grand Opening and
expressed to Council how impressed she is with the facility which contains 5
doctors as well as physiotherapists and psychological therapists as well as a
pharmacy. She also spoke on the NB Day celebrations and 2023 Merit Award
presentations held at O'Connell Park which are always free of charge and very
well attended.
Councillor Brenan and Councillor Nelson attended the Sussex Health Care
Initiative meeting with stakeholders from the community. The communities of
Sussex, Sackville and Fredericton have each been identified a candidates for
health care reform. They found the meeting to be very informative and are
pleased with some of the recommendations and initiatives discussed.
Councillor Brenan also spoke on the success of the Sussex Regional Library's
Summer Reading Program and commended the staff and summer students for
their hard work in bringing this important educational program to the children of
our community.
14. Date of Next Scheduled Regular Meeting September 18, 2023
His Worship Mayor Thorne noted that the next regularly scheduled meeting of the
Council will be held on September 18, 2023
