Mr. Abdella Assaff Councillor, Municipal District #5 Municipality of the District of Chester 151 King Street PO Box 369 Chester, NS BOJ iJO Dear Councillor Assaff: Please accept this expression of interest in the Gold River Elementary School property from the Parish of St. Martin's Western Shore. We had previously indicated to the Municipality's Administrator and the late Councillor Myra that we would be interested in possibly building a new church on the Gold River School property. That was in the early stages before Council had decided what would happen to the property; and before we had formal permission from the parishioners or the Bishop of the Diocese of Nova Scotia and PEI to proceed with planning. Now having those approvals, Parish Council is proceeding with development of the plan to move in the direction of a single Church for the Parish. Further to a recent conversation that Mr. Doug Ridgewell of our Parish Council had with you, we are confirming our interest. The Parish is now in the early stages of determining suitable land on which to build one new church to serve the entire Parish. We will at some point in the future close the existing four Churches (St. John's, Chester Basin; St. Mary's, Gold River; St. Mark's, Martin's Point and St. Martin's, Martin's River) and move into the new facility. We anticipate we will require a property large enough for us to build a structure between 7,000-7,500 square feet. In addition to the worship space we are considering that the building would have a large multi-purpose space(s) that would be accessible for community use. We believe this would fit well with the intent of the Municipal Council to have the School property utilized by the community in which it is situated, and that Council would consider deeding the property at a nominal cost for such use. We would like you to notify Council of our potential interest in said property and if you wish to meet to discuss the matter further, please get in touch with the Parish Wardens. You may reach us (Donna - 902-275-4983 or Liz at 902-275-3436). Yours sincerely, v - "V C, `eJ a. Elizabeth Parr Johnston, Warden Donna MacKinnon, Warden 5533 Hwy#3 RR#2 Chester Basin, NS, BOJ 1K0 275-5434
