MUNICIPALITY OF CHESTER – Customers are getting a chance to show some love to their
favourite businesses during the Municipality of Chester’s second annual Best Of Chester
Municipality Awards. The Awards allow online voters the opportunity to name which
businesses within the Municipality they feel are the “best” in 26 categories.
The categories represent all types of businesses found within the Municipality, including
artisanal retailer, farm/forestry business, auto shop, and pet services to name just a few.
“We have a unique mix of businesses in our area,” says Allen Webber, Warden for the
Municipality. “We recognize their value and are pleased to see the local support. Economic
retention, development and growth are critical if we want a sustainable future.”
Three weeks of online voting will culminate in an Awards Celebration at the Atlantica Oak Island
Hotel and Resort on Thursday, April 27 at 6:00 p.m. that will showcase some of the finest
retailers and service providers in the Municipality. The winners are determined by how many
nominations a business receives in their given category. Voting ends at midnight on Sunday,
April 23, and nominations/votes will be tallied the following day, but will not be announced
until the awards are given on April 27. The public and all businesses nominated are invited to
attend the ceremony, which consists of an informal tasting and socializing.
“Based on the volume of nominations so far, we anticipate a larger turnout at the Celebration
this year,” surmised Tara Maguire, the Municipality’s Director of Community Development.
“With so many great choices, we are excited to see who the winners will be.”
