MUNICIPALITY OF CHESTER GAINS A SENIOR PLANNER
MUNICIPALITY OF CHESTER -The Municipality of Chester takes pleasure in
introducing Tara Maguire, the newly-hired Senior Planner.
Ms.Maguire spent the last nine years working as the GIS Coordinator with the City of
Birmingham in Michigan and before that,served as the Planning and Development
Technician with the Municipality of East Hants.“I consider it an honour to accept this
position and welcome the opportunity to become an integral part of the
community,”says Ms.Maguire.
Originally from Ontario, Ms. Maguire went to school at the Centre of Geographic
Science in Lawrencetown, where she met her future husband.She relocated to Nova
Scotia and began her career at the Municipality of East Hants before heading off to
Michigan.
“The South Shore is an area that is near and dear to my family and myself,” says Ms.
Maguire “For several years, it has been the area that my husban d and I had hoped
would become our home.” With her position starting on October 18, Ms. Maguire,
her husband, and her 5-year-old daughter can now call the South Shore home.
One of Ms. Maguire’s top priorities is to move forward with the Municipality of
Chester’s Integrated Community Sustainability Plan. Although some progress has
been made since its introduction in February 2010, there is more to be done.
“Tara’s position has the potential to create substantial change for the better ment of
the Municipality,” says Erin Beaudin, CAO for the Municipality of Chester, “We look
forward to her joining our organization”.
