MUNICIPALITY MOVES FORWARD WITH STREETSCAPE PLAN
MUNICIPALITY OF CHESTER -The Municipality of Chester now has a long -term plan
that will change how we see the Village in the future. Council received the Draft
Report for Chester’s Planning Vision and Streetscape Design for Highway 3 at Chester
Village on January 28.
After much collaboration with the Streetscape Steering Committee and the public,
Ekistics Planning & Design,in association with ABLE Engineering, came up with a 20 -
year plan aimed to improve the portion of Highway 3 between Robinson’s Corner and
Stevens Road esthetically, economically, and environmentally.
“This document sets the tone for a positive future,” s ays Allen Webber, Warden for
the Municipality of Chester. “The community expressed their desire for an
affirmative, and practical, action plan, and we believe that this design provides that.”
An unexpected loss caused delay in the final draft preparations ; however, under
Council’s direction, staff is moving forward. Before any proposed outcomes can be
realized though, changes to the existing Land Use and Zoning by -laws must be made.
Geoff MacDonald, Planning Director, indicates that this process can be a l ong one,
but integral to the project.

Planning Department.
