A BY-LAW TO AMEND THE VILLAGE OF SUSSEX CORNER
WATER BY-LAW 37 - 99
The Village of Sussex Corner by the authority of the Municipalities Act of the Province of New
Brunswick hereby enacts the following amendments to By-law # 37-99 - A By-law Respecting
the Water Utility:
1. Section 1 (m) Amended to reflect a title change from Maintenance Supervisor to
Works Supervisor. Similar changes are found in Section 15, 16, 17 (a),
17 (b), 27, 49 (b), 49 (e), 49 (g), 49 (h) and 59.
"Works Supervisor means the person appointed or hired by the Village Council"
2. Section 6(1) Amended to change responsibility as follows:
"Before connecting a lateral to the water system, the owner shall submit to the Works
Supervisor an application on a form approved by Council."
3. Section 25 Amended to change responsibility as follows:
"The Village shall not be required to allow the installation of any service pipe or pipes at
any season of the year which, in the opinion of the Works Supervisor, is not suitable for
the performance of the work."
4. Section 36 Amended to change wording and change the rate as follows:
"The owner of the property shall pay the Village an administration fee of One Hundred
and Fifty Dollars ($150.00) for each water connection."
5. Section 37 Amended to remove this section.
6. Section 38 Amended to reduce wording as follows:
"In cases where the property is being developed by a Developer, the Developer shall
incur the costs outlined in Section 36 above as well as the costs of the initial connection
to the Village 's main line from the property."
7. Section 49 (i) Amended to remove this section.
8. Section 49 (j) Amended to remove wording as follows:
"The cost to maintain and field test a backflow preventer device shall be borne by the
Village."

9. Section 52 Amended to include additional wording as follows:
"The charge for a specific user may be reduced or increased in such a manner and such
extent as determined by Resolution of Council for special cause shown."
10. Section 59 (c) Amended to remove wording as follows:
"shall keep or cause to be kept a record of all work done in connection with the water
system, the depth of the pipe, the location of the shut -offs and any other details of each
job required by Council for water service connections."
