HomeMy Public PortalAbout2017-08-04_MR_EDO MEDIA RELEASE MUNICIPALITY OF CHESTER – The Municipality continues with their mandate of encouraging economic prosperity with the hire of Erin Lowe, who recently joined the Municipal Team as Economic Development Officer (EDO). Economic development has been a priority for Municipal Council since being identified in their 2012 Strategic Plan. Since that time, and with the help of the previous EDO, MODC has put an overall strategy in place, established an Economic Development Grant and sponsorship program, undertaken a Business Park Feasibility Study, and developed an awards program that recognizes the invaluable contributions of our local entrepreneurs to our economy. “We have established a solid foundation on which we can continue to build,” says Warden Allen Webber. “Positioning ourselves as being ‘business ready’ is our main focus, and we are confident that Erin can provide the leadership we need to get there.” Erin comes to MODC with over ten years of experience leading business development activities, most recently as the Strategic Planning/Business Development lead for eastern Canada with a prominent, international corporation. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Leadership Studies from St. Francis Xavier University. Erin currently resides in Hubbards. “This new challenge is exciting for me,” says Erin. “I’m in a position where I can help cultivate an environment where commerce and tourism flourish as well as support our existing community of local businesses and organizations.” A primary focus for Erin is increasing promotion and awareness of MODC as a development location through the creation of a sector development strategy and the implementation of a business retention and expansion program. …/2 DATE: August 4, 2017 SUBJECT: MUNICIPALITY FILLS ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OFFICER ROLE STATUS: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 2 Media Release Erin is also expected to work in collaboration with regional tourism agencies to promote and create awareness of MODC as a destination.
