PLAN REVIEW PUBLIC MEETINGS TO PRESENT INFORMATION ON ZONING CHANGES
MUNICIPALITY OF CHESTER – Beginning April 9th and continuing through to May 28th, the
Municipality of Chester will host a series of public open houses and meetings at various locations
around the Municipality (see below for full schedule). These meetings are the third and final round
of public engagement for the reVISION Municipal Plan Review process.
Over the past three years, municipal staff and the Citizens Planning Advisory Committee (an
advisory group primarily made up of residents) worked together to produce a new Municipal
Planning Strategy (MPS). The MPS is a long-range plan that sets goals and objectives for
development over the next 25 years. More recently, the Committee has also reviewed the draft
Land Use By-law (LUB) - a zoning document that sets the rules for development. The new MPS
and LUB contain new zoning and development rules for the Municipality outside Chester Village.
An Secondary Planning Strategy and Land Use By-Law specifically for Chester Village will follow
later this year or next year.
Municipal Council has reviewed the draft documents and asked staff to bring them to the public
for discussion and comments.
The new planning documents are based on two rounds of public meetings; one held in 2015 and
the other in 2016. Draft versions of the documents are available for viewing on the Municipality’s
website, and several citizens have already sent in questions and comments. Now, community
meetings are being held to ensure that as many people as possible who live and work here have
a chance to provide their feedback.
Each meeting will provide an opportunity to find out what changes are proposed and how the
new zoning will affect residents and their property. Meetings will be “open house” format from
2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., followed by a town hall style question and answer session
from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.

BASED ADVISORY GROUP, HAS PRODUCED NEW PLANNING DOCUMENTS THAT DESCRIBE GOALS,
OBJECTIVES, AND RULES FOR DEVELOPMENT IN ALL AREAS OUTS IDE OF CHESTER VILLAGE.
RESIDENTS OF CHESTER VILLAGE CAN REVIEW THEIR OWN DOCUMENTS AT A LATER DATE.
