MUNICIPALITY OF CHESTER – The 2018 Best Of Chester Municipality Business Awards will
showcase some of the area’s customer favourites from best artisanal retailer to best spa facility.
This is the third year for the growing Awards event and the anticipation to see who the top
nominees are is already building as submissions pour in.
“This is one of my favourite events of the year,” says Allen Webber, Warden for the Municipality.
“We have an eclectic mix of unique and successful businesses in our Municipality, and recognizing
them through these Awards is an opportunity for their customers to celebrate that.”
The Municipality will receive nominations for top businesses in 23 categori es using an online
submission process that customers can access between April 1 and April 29. Customers can
nominate any businesses for an Award as long as it operates within the Municipality of Chester.
To level the playing field, nominations are limited to one submission per category per device
(mobile, laptop, tablet). Multiple submissions will be accepted as long as they aren’t for the same
category.
After the nomination period, the top nominees will be tabulated in each category and presented
to the public for a round of voting starting on May 2 and ending at midnight on May 20. Only the
top nominees will be available to receive votes. Again, one vote per category per device.
Almost three weeks of online voting will culminate in an announcement of the winners during
the Council meeting in Chester on Thursday, May 24. Winners will be presented with their Award
and preparations made to promote their businesses in a marketing blitz promoting the “Best in
the Municipality”.
“We have some amazing business owners in the Municipality who put in a lot of hard work and
dedication in building and growing their successful businesses,” says Erin Lowe, the Municipality’s
Economic Development Officer. “These awards are a way to recognize them for their positive
impact on our community, and I’m looking forward to celebrating and promoting our winners
this year.”
