“WHY HERE” TO REMAIN ACTIVE DURING TRANSITION
SOUTH SHORE – Thanks to the leadership at the municipal level, the successful “Why Here”
campaign will continue while the regions’ municipalities work to form a Regional Enterprise
Network (REN) that will encompass the geographic area between Chester and Shelburne.
At the heart of “Why Here” is WhyHere.ca, a website that combines information from all
municipalities in Lunenburg Queens Counties; a website that a new resident or business can
learn about doing business here, living here, and visiting here.
The WhyHere.ca video section includes real stories from real people speaking in their own
words about why they live in Lunenburg Queens. The website also features an "Asset Map" that
provides a list and location of services and businesses across the region; one of the most
functional resources around.
Lunenburg Queens Regional Development Agency started the “Why Here” initiative. When this
organization closed in 2013, the South Shore Business Growth Association agreed to take on
the role of managing “Why Here” until April 1, 2014. These organizations recognize the value of
a regional business attraction tool and their work contributed to the success of the initiative.
Municipal partners acknowledge the importance and strength of “Why Here” and have agreed
to maintain the site until a new economic entity is formed. In fact, they plan to expand the
initiative to include Shelburne. The continuation of WhyHere.ca is essential as it serves as a
resource for anyone interested in what the region has to offer by way of amenities and
opportunities.
Despite the organizational changes, WhyHere.ca is here to stay. So go ahead, visit the website
(www.whyhere.ca), take a look around, and discover all the region has to offer!
