In an increasing attempt to relieve residents during these extreme dry weather
conditions, the Municipality of Chester will implement a potable water program
starting Monday, September 26. The program will provide households experiencing
a clean water shortage with 4L of bottled water per person per day up to a
maximum of four 4L jugs per day.
The program will operate using coupons, which can be picked up at th e following
locations and times:
The Municipal Office, 151 King Street in Chester, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.,
Monday to Friday;
The Municipal Office, 151 King Street in Chester, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.,
Monday September 26; and
New Ross Family Resource Centre from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.,Friday,
September 30.
The Municipality will assess the situation on October 5, and additional locations
and times may be added at that time.
Coupons are good for a one-week period (Monday to Sunday) and will expire each
Sunday for as long as the program is running. After expiration, new coupons can be
picked up on a daily, weekly or as-needed basis. Each coupon can be exchanged at
select retailers within the Municipality for one 4L jug of water (no substitutes).
Water, like coupons, can be picked up daily, weekly or as needed.
The Municipality is urging only those residents who are in need to access this
program so as to reserve supplies for those with little or no water. If residents are
experiencing mobility or communication issues, they can call the Municipal Office
at 902-275-3554 to make coupon delivery arrangements or to express their
permission to have a neighbour or family member collect their coupons on their
behalf.
As a reminder, water refill stations as well as shower availability have been posted
by the Regional Emergency Measures Organizations and shared on the
