MEDIA RELEASE
MUNICIPALITY OF CHESTER – The Municipality of Chester is excited to announce that Dan
McDougall will take the reigns as Chief Administrative Officer starting January 28, 2019. Dan
brings with him a considerable background in municipal and provincial leadership roles,
including deputy ministerial positions and CAO of two Nova Scotia municipalities.
“We are certainly impressed with Dan’s portfolio,” says Allen Webber, Warden for the
Municipality of Chester. “His skillset, leadership experience, and vision correspond very well
with our Municipality’s future goals.”
Provincially, Dan has worked with Housing Nova Scotia, the Department of Municipal Affairs,
and Service Nova Scotia. This follows a 12-year municipal career as Chief Administrative Officer
of both Colchester County and the District of Guysborough.
Dan has helped the organizations he has worked with achieve their strategic priorities. He has
provided leadership for initiatives such as the development of small and large recreation
complexes, regional solid waste management facilities, as well as business and industrial parks.
“I want to help both the Council and staff teams achieve great things for the communities
within the Municipality” says Mr. McDougall.
Dan is a self-proclaimed fitness enthusiast and is an active runner, swimmer, and cyclist. He has
volunteered for community and professional organizations and has served on the Board of both
the Association of Municipal Administrators and the Nova Scotia and Federation of Nova Scotia
Municipalities.
