SCOPE To provide outreach to all communities and their visitors, the Municipality of Chester (MOC) will be implementing a mobile information kiosk during the 2019 tourism season to be set up at events and select locations throughout the Municipality. The focus of this position is to engage with visitors from all over the world and share extensive travel knowledge and trip planning advice about attractions, destinations and experiences that is customized to each visitor. This position would see many visitors counselled on MOC and Nova Scotia tourism products, which will ultimately have a direct impact on MOC’s tourism industry. Daily research of tourism products, destinations, way-finding, MOC and provincial festivals and events information, and data collection is essential. Counselling tools such as a tablet, literature and maps will be provided. Travel throughout the Municipality and possibly other regions will be required. The successful candidate will be reimbursed for mileage. OBLIGATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES UNDER LEGISLATION 1. The Municipality of Chester is committed to workplace safety and all employees are expected to actively participate in the Municipality’s Occupational Health and Safety Policy and Program and Occupational Health and Safety Legislation as well as Regulations of the Province of Nova Scotia. 2. The Municipality of Chester complies with the Employment Legislation of Nova Scotia and all employees are also expected to act in accordance to the appropriate Legislation as well. QUALIFICATIONS  All candidates must have a high school education and at least one year of customer service experience.  Preference will be given to candidates with some post-secondary education in tourism, hospitality and/or a related field.  Must be computer literate, specifically with use of mobile devices.  Preference will be given to candidates with a solid working knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter)  Knowledge of and experience with Nova Scotia’s tourism industry and tourism destinations specifically in MOC and Lunenburg County are considered assets. SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS Principle Duties and Responsibilities:  Setup, staff and tear down the kiosk at events and select locations throughout the municipality.  Provide exceptional customer service.  Share extensive travel knowledge and trip planning advice about attractions, destinations and experiences in MOC and Lunenburg County that is customized to each visitor. This position would see many visitors counselled on MOC and Nova Scotia tourism products, which will ultimately have a direct impact on MOC’s tourism industry.  Daily research of tourism products; destinations; MOC, regional and provincial festivals and events information; and data collection is essential.  Influence visitors to see and do more and extend their length of stay in the MOC.  Distribute tourism brochures and maps. OTHER REQUIREMENTS  Possess a valid class 5 Nova Scotia driver’s license with no restrictions.  Travel throughout the municipality and possibly other regions will be required.  Must have their own vehicle.  Weekend and evening work will be required.
