HomeMy Public PortalAboutChristmas Office ClosurePage 1 of 1 COUNCIL POLICY Effective Date: February 26, 1996 Amended: September 21, 2020 SECTION: Administration TITLE: Christmas Closure PURPOSE: The Town of Oliver offices will be closed December 24th to the first business day following New Year’s Day. SCOPE: This policy applies to Town of Oliver staff except those who provide essential services. POLICY STATEMENT: 1.Town Hall, Finance, and Public Works offices will be closed to the public December 24th to the first business day following New Year’s Day. a.W hen December 24th falls between Monday through Friday, staff will be granted 3 hours as paid time off. 2.Employees will take vacation, banked time off or leave without pay during the closure. If Supervisors are satisfied that sufficient work exists, employees may be permitted to work during the Christmas closure period. a.Any exceptions to these options will be managed by the staff members Supervisor or the Chief Administrative Officer. 3.Outside workers will be permitted to operate on a reduced scale, providing that essential services continue to be performed. If additional workers are required during regular working hours, sufficient staff will be called back to work at regular pay. 4.Notice of the Christmas Closure period will be advertised in the local newspaper, website and social media at least ten days in advance.
