HomeMy Public PortalAboutEmergency Operations Centre Wage ReimbursementPage 1 of 1 COUNCIL POLICY Effective Date: September 27, 2021 Page 1 of 1 SECTION: Administration TITLE: Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) Wage Reimbursement PURPOSE: To ensure that Town employees shall be eligible for regular salary and overtime while working in an Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) under an approved task number. SCOPE: On activation of an Emergency Operations Centre, Town employees are requested to fill EOC positions when an emergency occurs. Additionally, the Town participates in the Regional Emergency Preparedness Program with the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) and can be requested by the RDOS to fill EOC positions either in Oliver or an alternate location. POLICY: 1. Town employees may be released from Town operations to staff an EOC at the request of the Emergency Program Coordinator or the RDOS with approval from either the Chief Administrative Officer and/or the Mayor. 2. Unionized employees shall be paid their current regular salary during the standard working day and are eligible for overtime premiums subject to the provisions of the Collective Agreement. 3. Management staff will be paid their current regular normal salary with respect to their regular workday and are eligible for 1.5 times their hourly rate thereafter. 4. Initially, the Town will pay for all staff salaries related to any EOC activation and will send appropriate invoicing/records to Emergency Management BC (EMBC) or the RDOS for future reimbursement under a specific emergency event’s task number. 5. Town employees cannot bank overtime hours worked in an EOC and must be paid out.
