TITLE: Webcast and Local Programming Council Meetings
PURPOSE:
The Town of Oliver provides webcasting services to record Council meetings and
Public Hearings for viewing via the internet either by live streaming or archived
recordings.
Opportunity to broadcast Regular Council meetings and Public Hearings are
provided to Oliver’s local cable service to offer this unique programming to the
community.
POLICY:
1. The Town of Oliver grants permission to reprint excerpts of video
webcasts for purposes such as educational use, private study, research,
criticism, review or newspaper summary.
2. News providers may make use of excerpts of the video transcripts in their
publications for the purpose of fair and accurate reports of proceedings.
3. Excerpts may not be purposefully distorted or used for political party
advertising, election campaigns or any other politically partisan activity.
4. Any other commercial use or repurposing of the video transcripts require
the express written approval of the Corporate Officer.
5. Members of the public that speak at meetings are consenting to disclosure
of any personal information made evident through the speech or
presentation materials. Personal information may include an image,
name, address and personal opinions.
6. Oliver’s cable provider is responsible for all hardware and technical
requirements to broadcast Regular Council meetings and Public Hearings.
7. The Town of Oliver does not guarantee a successful live streaming
broadcast or archived meeting recording due to circumstances out of our
control such as internet/server outages or other technical difficulties.
